We saw a gap in the market for practical, affordable food solutions that are convenient, filling, and dependable — products that help people stretch their budgets without sacrificing taste or dignity.
That vision became the foundation of Weskus Foods.
What started as a small community-focused idea has grown into a trusted supplier of value-driven meal solutions including Food Socks, Heartfelt Foods and more. Every ingredient and product is selected or developed with one goal in mind: helping South African households get more value from every rand they spend.
Weskus Foods is built on West Coast values — honesty, practicality, generosity, and community. We believe good food should not be a luxury. It should be accessible, comforting, and able to bring people together around the table.
Whether we are helping a family prepare affordable weekday meals, supporting community feeding projects, or supplying products for larger gatherings, our mission remains the same:
To make reliable, affordable food solutions available to real South African households.
Numbers Speak For Themselves!

Behind the success of Food Socks is Carl van Blerk, a South African entrepreneur and community leader who recognised the growing challenge of food insecurity and rising food costs across the country. His vision was to create a meal solution that was affordable, nutritious, and accessible to everyone. What started as an initiative to address hunger has grown into a nationally recognised brand that also supports entrepreneurship through a network of resellers across South Africa.
Working alongside respected culinary experts, including Chef Francois Ferreira and Nataniël, Carl helped develop a range of Food Socks that combine convenience with authentic South African flavours. Today, the brand is known not only for its practical Budget Meals but also for its commitment to creating positive social impact by helping families put wholesome food on the table while supporting local communities and job creation. Food Socks continue to prove that quality meals can be affordable, accessible, and made for real South African life.
